Erdogan Pekenç

Managing Director – Lafarge Cement

Turkish-born and educated, Dr Erdoğan Pekenç has spent the majority of his Lafarge career in Turkey, rising to become the President and CEO of both Aggregates and Cement. He attained a degree in Engineering at the Istanbul Technical University in 1972 and a PhD in Minerals Science and Engineering from Sheffield University in 1976.

 

Dr Pekenç took over as Managing Director of Lafarge Cement UK in 2007. Previously he was country manager for Lafarge Cement, Philippines where he moved the company from a break-even position to a €45 million profit.

 

Since joining Lafarge Cement UK, Dr Pekenç has overseen a number of important changes, including the completion of Portland House, the new headquarters of Lafarge Cement UK and moved the company's plans to build a brand new £200 million, state-of-the-art, cement works in Medway, Kent to the final preparation stages.
