Think Thermal! - Lafarge Plasterboard has launched its Think Thermal campaign to help builders understand thermal boards and take advantage of commercial opportunities.

The Government is starting to try to improve the energy efficiency of the 25 million existing buildings in the UK, the Repair Maintenance and Improvement (RMI) market will be given a boost through the introduction of the Green Deal and revisions to Part L of the Building Regulations (which provide guidance on thermal efficiency). This means more customers will be looking for energy efficient solutions and builders will need to be able to help.
Think Thermal, launched in February, aims to provide clarity in the often complicated thermal board market, helping to explain what products are available, how to use them, and where and when they should be used.

As part of the campaign Lafarge Plasterboard will be developing Think Thermal tool kits, which will contain essential information for users, such as a guide to Part L and thermal board solutions that includes a thermal board product selector which will help builders choose the right board. Builders are also encouraged to use Lafarge's dedicated technical enquiry line for instant advice on 01275 377 789.

UKTFA Regional meeting - Dr Ali Arasteh presents to the UKTFA.

Dr Ali Arasteh, Lafarge Plasterboard's Technical Manager, inspired delegates at a recent UKTFA meeting in Bristol with his presentation on the latest innovations in plasterboard and drywall lining systems. The audience, which comprised market leaders in the timber frame industry, including architects and representatives from top construction companies, were keen to learn more about the different applications of Lafarge's products, and in particular our innovative LaDura and Aquaboard products. Responsible Sourcing - Lafarge Plasterboard leads the market. - BES 6001 awarded to Lafarge Plasterboard

Lafarge Plasterboard has been awarded the prestigious BES 6001 Responsible Sourcing Certificate developed by BRE Global. It is the first and only UK plasterboard producer to achieve this accolade.

The BES 6001 framework standard is an independent certification scheme, launched at the start of 2009, to assess responsible sourcing policies and practices throughout the construction product supply chain. The universal rating system enables architects, designers and builders to more easily meet sustainability targets and move towards zero-carbon buildings.

To achieve BES 6001, Lafarge Plasterboard had to demonstrate responsible practices in managing its supply chain and also comply with a range of strict criteria relating to environmental and social issues such as recycling, transportation, emissions and minimising use of raw materials.

Lafarge Plasterboard's recognition is the latest in a series of major investments made by the business to help its customers strengthen their own sustainability credentials.

Steve Hemmings, Sustainability Manager at Lafarge Plasterboard comments: "Finding ways to support our clients is a key driver at Lafarge Plasterboard and this accreditation is a great way of doing that.

"A priority for our customers is to improve their environmental performance to meet increasingly exacting regulations. By selecting products that are responsibly sourced our clients win additional credits under the Materials section of the Code for Sustainable Homes and BREEAM, which is important for customers working to improve their rating."

Lafarge Plasterboard was awarded a ‘Good' classification which applies to all its plasterboard and coving produced in the UK.
